In his Midstream Business article, AFS Regional Field Manager Justin Maloney discusses the importance of training and how the generation gap has affected the midstream sector. In the article, entitled “Old Meets New” from the June 2019 issue, Justin shares his perspective on how mentoring programs can help fill critical midstream jobs with qualified personnel. According to Justin, pairing a rookie with a mentor in the field can bring a variety of skills to the table, from procedure updates and technology fluency to practiced problem solving and situational familiarity – all around creating a safer work environment.
“Preparing to replace an aging workforce involves construction and maintenance practices often not learned in degreed programs. Generations of pipeliners have learned successful approaches in the field solely through experience,” states Maloney.
